Modical Scrubs started with a very loved, very worn-out scrub top from the 90s.

When our founder Lucy was five, her dad had a scrub top covered in little rainbow frogs in scrub hats. He adored it… but could never find anything like it again. That stuck.

Lucy was raised by two healthcare parents, surrounded by health professionals her entire life. She even earned a full medical scholarship at 18. But instead, she followed her other lifelong love: fashion.

After 15 years working in retail and design, and hearing the same complaints from healthcare workers over and over, one thing became obvious. Scrubs were functional, but they were missing personality, joy, and thoughtful design.

When she was unexpectedly made redundant, she took it as a sign. Alongside her family, she built Modical Scrubs from the ground up. Built by us, hands-on every step of the way, with a small team of people we trust. Modicals has merged her background in fashion with years of hands-on creative business work behind the scenes.
